Inquiry is our natural way of learning. We make sense of the world by testing out theories, solving problems, satisfying curiosity, or meeting goals. We, as parents and teachers, can tweak what we do and say to be better facilitators of inquiry for children. We can nurture curiosity in the spaces we create, the questions we ask, the way we value children’s questions and inquiries, and through deliberate modeling of curiosity ourselves. Learners crave authenticity and purpose. Providing children with opportunities to explore things that matter to them in their local and global context helps foster global citizenship and a true appreciation for the world around them.
